The Body Shop Drops of Youth™ Liquid Peel Gel

So you say face peel and instantly everyone is terrified that such a chemical mixture will burn your face off! I must admit I did think this at first but I promise it’s nothing like that at all.

Then you hear that The Body Shop have one?! I was a little sceptical at first as they are known for their organic ingredients and fair trade sourcing, I was confused, how could they create an exfoliating face peel?

Apparently they can using Edelweiss, Sea Holly and Criste Marine, yes I’ve no idea either. The liquid peel is part of The Body Shop Drops of Youth™ collection, a revolutionary gel-to-peel formula that apparently 88% of 109 women agree, peels off impurities and pollutants. The Drops of Youth™ range is aimed at targeting skin at the first signs of ageing, and includes 7 other products, such as the Drops of Youth™ Wonderblur™ which I wont lie has an amazing name!

Packaging wise for the Youth Liquid Peel, It’s exactly as I would’ve expected it, The Body Shop has always been an organic and animal friendly brand which has always attracted me to it in the past. The green bottle and simple black pump making product dispensing easy whilst in the shower or bath. The simple label with black text keeps things easily readable however what catches your eye first will be the shiny silver label, an unusual square with almost indented corners, different from a simple rectangle I suppose? Either way,  the metallic silver of the label definitely catches the light with the simple Body Shop logo and Drops of Youth™ shows instantly which range the product is in, this along with the green bottle makes for easy spotting in-store.

After using this for a week now with the recommended dosage, that’s so not the right word for skincare! I mean I’ve used it 3 times this week as recommended on the back. At first it feels like a nice cooling gel that you can feel literally soothing the day off your skin. Though the more you rub it in it begins to crumble forming little bits on your face that I can only describe as the little bits left on a page when you use a rubber! Not exactly what I was expecting.

I can’t say is a nice experience to be honest and these little bits were quite hard to actually get off my face following the peel, especially around the corners of my chin. I had to use a further cleanser to attempt at removing them, not to mention a little off putting as they say that the bits that form are the dead skin cells from your face, which is a bit grim!

However after a bit more of a vigorous scrub to get the dead skin off, my face did feel softer, smoother and refreshed, all be it in need of some moisture. All in all I’m not sure I would recommend this liquid peel though it is quite fun to test out the gel-to-peel formula it does come with a price tag of £18, so a bit much for just testing out.

Have you tried the Youth Liquid Peel? What did you think of the little bobbles?
