The Best Easter Egg

It’s almost that wonderful time of the year when eating chocolate is not frowned upon!

But if you’re still feeling a little guilty about tucking into a giant chocolate egg, or want to gift somebody an alternative egg this year, the Which Came First? bath bomb from Lush is a perfect little treat.

An indulgent and rather large egg, this bath bomb is infused with lemon and grapefruit — two of my favourite fragrances — so I knew that this would be a hit! Naturally, I was attracted to its beautiful appearance first. Which Came First? is a different shape to the usual spherical bath bomb, but an obvious choice for this time of year. It’s covered in a vibrant, sunshine yellow to make you smile instantly. Who doesn’t love the sun?! As I mentioned earlier, this bath bomb is rather large in size which I found intriguing — imagine the bubbles!

Until the lovely store assistant told me that there was a second bath bomb inside the egg, I had no idea! That’s three bath bombs in one, all for £6.95: one for the sunny side of the egg, one for the pink side, and one for the sweet little chick inside. I don’t think this could get any better.

The combination of lemon and grapefruit has to be one of my favourite fragrances. Perfectly sweet, but not too citrusy or overpowering. There’s also a hint of vanilla to blend everything together, making this a truly indulgent spring treat!

I mean, how cute is this little hatchling? The perfect Easter egg, if you ask me!

Have you found a nice alternative egg this year? I’d love to hear about it! 🙂

Little Ledge Update

ledgeupdate-post-05

Okay. Don’t laugh. Yes, it’s taken me about a year to fill my frames! I promised I’d write a little update, though if you missed the first post be sure to check it out here.

I’m sure you guys will agree that I had to properly fill the frames. I knew my photographs would be a bit overwhelming in such large dimensions, especially as my bedroom is relatively small. So, the hunt began for some simple prints that would complement all the little bits and bobs on the shelves.

I kept my eyes peeled on my various shopping trips, especially in places like The Range, B&Q, and Primark. I purchased a cute little kitten sketch found in the reduced section at Wilkinson’s, but unfortunately this little guy gave the wrong impression, despite looking very sweet amongst my candles.

In November of last year, I had tickets to attend Stylist Live with my sister. (This deserves a post of it’s own, though I’m yet to write one!) Wandering around the gorgeous stalls full of beauty, fashion, and home pieces, we were surrounded by prints. They featured all sorts of things, from gold foiled leaves to bright pink flamingos. The flamingos, I admit, were very tempting.

Towards the end of the day we discoveredMy Shining Amour’, a stall selling prints, jewellery, and candles. The first print to jump out at me was the ‘K I L L I N G I T’ print in a beautiful white frame. This print looks clean and simple, with the letters equally spaced in light sans serif capitals, which happens to be my favourite form of lettering. (Please excuse my nerd moment.) I knew it would look perfect in my larger frame. Now I just had to find a smaller print to complement it.

Looking further around the stall we saw that they had many more great pieces. This included a little candle with ‘I focking love you’ written on the side. The design was amazing in itself, but it also smelt incredible. (I later discovered that the scent was lime, basil, and mandarin.) I was on my best behaviour and so resisted the candle, but if you like the sound of it then you can find it online here. The stall also had a number of other gorgeous prints, some of which included rose gold foiling on the lettering. I can’t emphasise enough how much I love it when a brand gets a logo or some text foiled. It looks beautiful, and knowing how much work goes into it makes it all the more impressive!

This leads me on to my second print: ‘Goal digger’ I absolutely love this print, and it looks gorgeous trimmed down and framed. Waking up to it every morning reminds me that I’ve got goals, and that I can reach them. That might be saving money, completing a design at work, or simply getting out of bed that day. Looking up and seeing this elegant script font and rose gold foiling reminds me how hard I worked to get where I am, and how much further I want to get. This print was originally the same size as ‘K I L L I N G IT’, but I decided to cut it down and pop it in my spare frame to sit alongside my rose gold trinkets.

Of course, after putting my prints in their frames I had to have a little re-jig of all my little bits and bobs — the refresh was a welcome change. These ledges are now complete: clean, non-intrusive, but elegant.

Have you found any nice prints recently? I’d love to see them! Who knows, I might need another refresh next year!

Feeling Flushed

Okay, I know. I’m back to one of my all-time favourite brands… but they’re my favourite for a reason!

This week I’m focussing on‘Naked Flushed – Naked’, a cheek palette I received as an extra little gift for Christmas. I’d been holding off on using it as I’ve not really used a cheek palette before. (I know, I’m a bit behind the times!) I’m not really sure why, either, as I love an eyeshadow palette!

This particular palette includes a super silky bronzer, highlighter, and blush in a gorgeous medium pink shade. All three colours complement each other beautifully. I’ve been using this palette for a few weeks now, and I’ve found it best to use each colour separately. Of course, this makes the application more precise, but I’m not sure I like the idea of making a mess by blending in the palette.

So, let’s look at the colours individually.

Starting with the bronzer, the formula is both silky and buildable. I use myReal Techniques contour brush to achieve a soft, bronzed contour. It’s also great for lightly contouring your nose and jaw line.

Next in line is the gorgeous highlighter: rose-tinted to create an enviable glow.

Last, but by no means least, is my favourite part of the trio – the beautiful blush. Used with theReal Techniques blush brush , this creates a perfectly flushed look. With this amazing duo, I usually end up looking a bit over-blushed!

Let’s be honest – I was always going to love this palette, wasn’t I? I mean, it’s by Urban Decay! Is there a cheek palette out there you think I’ll love too?
