Liebster Award Tag

Wow it’s been a while!

After being literally knocked down by the flu for about 3 weeks all over Christmas (perfect timing of course) I’ve run out of time to dedicate to my blog. No matter how hard it is to remind yourself that it’s just a hobby and It’s not the end of the world I’ve not created one post a week for the past however many weeks I still somehow end up feeling guilty!

Anyway, it took a nomination from the lovely Louise at Pretty Polly Beauty to get me back by taking part in the Liebster Award Tag, so thank you! If you get a chance be sure to have a look at her blog, or instagram as she’s always posting great stories.

  4. I have two massive cats who are my fur babies, honestly they are the size of dogs (I’d say a king Charles size) and sit on command for their dinner
  5. My favourite animals are penguins and flamingos and have been for years way before the hype (just saying)
  6. My favourite colour is yellow, though nothing ever comes nice in yellow other than flowers
  7. Talking of flowers I’m more a lover of plants (last longer) my favourite being the peace lily or Spathiphyllum is its posh name
  8. I’m a big worrier, anything that I could possibly worry about I do

11 questions asked

  1. What is your earliest childhood memory?

This is a tough one as my memory is shocking, honestly ask my boyfriend! I think the earliest one I have is sitting on my grandad’s knee when he gave me a little yellow Tamagotchi. Thinking about it thats probably where my favourite colour came from!

Are you a cat person or dog person?

Another hard one! I’m an animal person does that count? I have cats at home with my mum but my dad has a dog so I get the best of both worlds really.

What is your very favourite single make up item and why?

My favourite item is my setting spray from Urban Decay, ooh that rhymed! It’s so nice to spritz your face if your wearing makeup or not gives you an instant boost and refresh not only to your skin but to your confidence as well.

What would be your dream job if you’re not doing it already?!

I’m sort of doing it already! I’ve always wanted to design and create the marketing emails from beauty brands, so all those emails reminding you you’ve left something in your cart or a new product has launched.

Where is your favourite place on the planet? It could be a country, a place or even somewhere you’d like to visit.

My favourite place is the sea, I don’t mind where though obviously the med is a bit better! I love the wildlife and the freedom you feel, I’d love to visit the Barrier Reef one day.

I’ve outed myself with an embarrassing moment, what’s one of yours?

Ha! Erm, I do this a lot, have a major panic that I’ve lost my phone, like get people to call it and all sorts, only to find it’s just on charge!

What was it that encouraged you to start blogging?

I’ve wanted to start one for ages, but it took finding a little quote my great nan left to my mum in a note book to give me the final push, you can find the quote here.

What is your favourite song?

My ultimate favourite song is old school Rihanna – Music of the sun

How many homes have you lived in?

A home is a beautiful and loving place so I would say only one, my family home.

If you could bring one famous person back from the dead, who would it be?

To be honest I’m not really one to keep up with celebs and what not, so I really don’t know.

If you were going out for the evening and could only wear one piece of make up, which would you choose, lipstick or mascara?

Oooohh, I think Mascara as I do often forget my lipstick when I’m off out, but never mascara!

Hallelujah Hair

I’m so excited to write this post for you all as it’s my first little collaboration with the beautiful earth loving botanical brand Forest & Shore. They asked me to review their gorgeous hair oil, and I’m instantly in love. (I’m not just saying that!)

My hair has always been something I’m very particular about and don’t tend to skimp on products to keep it clean, fresh and healthy, even sometimes turning to professional salon products.

A hair oil is something I’ve always considered a must have for your hair routine, I’ve been using the Loreal Professional Mythic Oil at the moment which keeps my ends conditioned and hydrated.

As if by fate my Hallelujah Hair Oil arrived just after I had washed my hair last Saturday Afternoon, perfect timing to add 2-5 drops to my towel dried hair through the ends and mid-lengths. My first impressions of this hair oil was love, the smell is amazing!
A gorgeous blend of Olive, Sesame, Coconut, Arnica, Rosemary and Lavender essential oils this product smells so loving and nourishing with the top notes of Lavender to calm and relax your senses.

hair-oil-post-07

Having used the Hallelujah Hair Oil a few times now after washing my hair throughout the week, I just can’t get enough of the smell and the results are great too. My hair feels so soft I can’t stop playing with it, I do need to be careful though as the last time I think I used a bit too much as my hair does look a bit oily now. (Think I got a bit product happy)

Being a packaging and design lover (kinda have to be with my job!) I must say this packaging speaks volumes for the brand, I love the delicate feel and slight natural texture to the box, with the added delicate floral and leaf sketched design to the top half gives the product a natural and ethical vibe, which is also great because they are 100% Organic! An organic hair oil that encourages hair growth as well as hydrating, you can’t go wrong at all.

Price wise this product is mid range at £14.99 on Amazon, but I’m a firm believer in that you pay for what you get, so paying over £10 for a hair oil you know its going to be good and exceed your expectations. It’s also currently a #1 best seller on Amazon!

So if you’re looking for a hair oil that does everything and more for your hair health as well as smelling great I believe this is the one. It comes in a 100ml bottle too so it will last you ages!

Have you tried a hair oil recently? Let me know in the comments below or find me on instagram or twitter 😀

Marvellous M.A.C

This week I’ve decided to dedicate my post to my all-time favourite lip look, using two perfectly partnered products. First up is a gorgeous lip liner that I know is everyone’s favourite. If this lip liner was a person, they’d be the most popular in the class!

mac-post-01

Of course, it’s the one and only Soar lip pencil by MAC. It’s incredible – it goes with so many different lipstick shades and even works beautifully on its own!

I have worn the liner only look a few times now, simply because I love the colour. All I needed was a bit of lip balm on top to keep my lips hydrated now that the weather in the UK has gone all cold and miserable!

mac-post-02mac-post-03

MAC always hits the spot with their packaging: simple and sleek, with a little foiling on the logo. (Which, if you’ve read any of my other posts, you’ll know I love!) It adds a bit of class and a touch of sass to a product, which is never a bad thing!

My go-to perfect partner is the MAC Viva Glam 2, a gorgeous, muted pink-beige that compliments my pale skin tone. Again, I love the packaging of this product. The striking, deep cherry red colour inside contrasts the trademark MAC black. Although it looks slightly matte once applied, the satin coating helps to keep your lips hydrated.

MAC lipsticks are recognised for their long-lasting colour, and this beauty is no exception. Its creamy formula glides on effortlessly and lasts throughout the day, with the occasional top-up to stay hydrated. Using Soar first ensures that no colour bleeding occurs, but I’ve used this lipstick on its own plenty of times without bleeding!

Boo-tiful Baths

Lush just keeps giving me reasons to love them, they’re cruelty free, Vegetarian friendly and they stay on season without fail!

Lush bath bombs and bubble bars are my all time favourite beauty product, there are so many variations there is undoubtedly something for everyone. Wether you like a more citrus soak or something more floral they honestly have it all.

lush-post-03

My recent visit to Lush did not disappoint with them having their Halloween themed bath bombs on offer, so many cute ones and spooky ones to choose from. I decided to limit myself to just two, (Christmas is coming guys!) and my first purchase was this little beauty, the Pink Pumpkin. I was drawn to this bubble bar due to its pink sparklyness, I mean any girl would be! Being pink in colour, the fragrance also reflects a feminine feel with geranium and bergamot oils as well as a hint of jasmine which is one of my favourite fragrances.

lush-post-04

My second purchase was the cutest little cat bubble bar, Bewitched. Having two of my own furr babies, I’m always drawn to something with a cat on it! Perfect for halloween a little black cat, I’m not sure I’m looking forward to a black bath but I am looking forward to the blackberry fragrance. Again this is a bubble bar so will last for more than one use!

lush-post-05

So looking forward to the Christmas bath bombs to appear now, are there any you’re looking forward to?

The feeling of colour

Starting a blog is much like when you buy a new notebook, you’re greeted with that first blank page, what to write or draw? A little poem? or a simple sketch? or even just your name? Either way you’ll get it wrong and want to start again.

So Instead of  having that dreaded feeling I thought I’d start with something simple, something everyone can relate to, colour… or color even if your American or live life in the land of HMTL.

Isn’t it weird how it can change your mood, or your perception even?

Take for example a simple rose, I’m guessing a pink or red one comes to mind first as these are what we see most often be it in florists or on beauty packaging or fragrances. Already they are giving off a loving and delicate vibe as well as a slight bit of sass thanks to the flamenco dancers.

colour-post-image-05

So what about the white, yellow and even black roses? White I’m feeling a wedding vibe, there’s a feeling of innocence and grace with a white rose.

Yellow to me is a happy rose a friendly one, that you could have a laugh with. Whereas black forms a darkness on the delicate texture of a rose, giving off a grieving feel along with an untold sadness.

colour-post-image-02

So all in all colour can change how we feel, especially if we’re wearing it, so why not add some colour into your beauty regime? Try that bright green face mask, the fluorescent pink eyeshaddow, or even go bold with a red lip?

How did it make you feel?
